Like all museums, we're looking for help.
We've been trying to determine what is the best way to add the cockpit to our ongoing Sea King Interactive Display project, which thus far has concentrated on the tactical crew (TACCO and SENSO). Like the other positions, "virtual crew" will be the normal operating mode, but we are exploring how to make an immersive display of the pilot's environment, which could also be taken over by guests with a volunteer guide's assistance to try their hand at flying.
Therefore, we're developing a 3D model in Unity of the cockpit to use with our Meta Quest 2 VR headsets. We've started with a scan and added some of the panels to see how it would present. We also are considering using one of our Sea King training artifacts to provide the primary flight controls.
If you would like to help with 3D modelling, or any other volunteer position, please reach out to us!
Editted: Charles Gagne reminded us in the comments below the Virtavia Sea King for X-Plane is now freeware, so with a little help of blender we can use it to build up the model around the cockpit much quicker, and concentrate on the unique CH-124 instruments.
