– check out this fantastic photo of officers on the open bridge of HMCS SKEENA in 1941. This photo captures a cold, damp, but calm day at sea while on Mid-Ocean Es**rt Force duties during after a refit in Newfoundland. HMCS SKENNA was commissioned into the navy in 1931 and during the war the ship participated in es**rt convoy duties, saved sailors from a torpedo ship, helped in the sinking of two U-boats and was present on D-day. Sadly, on the night of 24/25 Oct 1944, SKEENA was wrecked in a storm. Anchored off Reykjavik, Iceland, the ship dragged its anchor and grounded in 50-foot waves off Viðey Island with the loss of 15 crew members.

Malheureusement, dans la nuit du 24 au 25 octobre 1944, SKEENA a fait naufrage lors d'une tempête. Ancré au large de Reykjavik, en Islande, le navire a traîné son ancre et s'est échoué dans des vagues de 50 pieds au large de l'île de Viðey, entraînant la perte de 15 membres d'équipage.
