🎒With the new school year just around the corner, we know students and families have questions about getting to Essex District High School while construction continues at Maidstone Avenue and Talbot Street North.

A designated walking detour has been established around the construction area. Please review the attached map with students before the first day of school and allow a few extra minutes for the walk.

Please remember:
âś… Follow the designated walking route and temporary signage.
âś… Follow the designated walking route detailed in the map and adhere to temporary signage.
âś… Never enter the construction area, even if it looks like a shorter route.
âś… Where applicable, follow directions from flag persons.

Pedestrian detours are subject to change without notice due to dynamic construction activities. Where posted detours differ from the posted maps, pedestrians and motorists should always follow applicable signage and traffic control devices, including fencing and construction cones/barrels.

We thank you for your patience and, most importantly, for helping keep everyone safe while construction continues.

Let's celebrate our history!

The Town of Essex would like to invite you to a heritage plaque unveiling! The plaque recognizes the historical significance of 78 Fox Street, also known as the Kowtiuk Home, which has played an important role in the community's history for more than 150 years. The unveiling will take place on the 119th anniversary of the August 10, 1907 nitroglycerin explosion, an event the home remarkably survived.
