Most people think of the Greatest Generation in terms of bullets and bayonets. But there was one unit that used a different kind of courage: The 23rd Headquarters Special Troops.

They were a mix of artists from New York and actors from Hollywood. Armed with nothing but 90-pound inflatable tanks and massive speakers, they landed in France to play a deadly game of "make-believe."

By day, they inflated a "paper army" to draw N**i fire. By night, they broadcast the sound of phantom divisions through the fog. If they were ever caught, they had no way to defend themselves.

They saved an estimated 30,000 American lives. They were sworn to secrecy for over 50 years, but their story is finally being told.

Imagine being weighted down by so much treasure that you couldn't swim for your life. As the Aztec warriors swarmed the causeway, the gold became a literal anchor to the bottom of the lake.
