ALERT ALERT ALERT
SCAMMERS ON THE RISE!
From email, phone calls and personal transactions. If you are a buyer make sure you are getting what you pay for, ask for a FaceTime for the product you are purchasing, ask for proof with a physical date other then ur cell. This will help that you are not being scammed. They are smart and lazy.
If you are a seller, don’t get scammed by people saying they will pay a portion now and will pay the remainder at a later date. Don’t mail any unpaid product unless it is with Canada Post, and they will collect the remaining amount due. They will string you along for the next payment with absolutely NO intentions of paying the full amount. Hence wasting your time & energy.
We are all on a tight budget from higher fuel costs, groceries and the everyday cost of living, the last think we need is to be cheated from our hard earned monies. The government does a great job of that already.
Be mindful of who you are making transactions with online. And Revenue Canada doesn’t send emails to let you that you have refund, bank institutes don’t send you a text or email to let you know you have low fund in your account. If your waiting on a package from overseas they won’t send you a text for amount owing for duty, it will be on an invoice.
These are tactics to have your heart rate increase and makes you want to respond to the delivered message.
Take the time to think before you act…answering an email / Link in an email or a phone call asking you for any kind of information. Hang up. Wait an hour and if you feel if you need to verify with your bank, Etsy, PayPal, Canada post, call them directly from a number you have google yourself.
Stay safe with your money this Xmas season. They will be watching when ur not expecting it.
Blessings
