🍁 From Sap to Syrup: What a Sweet Success! 🍁

Our Maple Tree Tapping workshop—part of the Lost Knowledge Series—has officially wrapped up, and our hearts (and stomachs) are full!
We want to send a massive thank you to everyone who made this traditional skill-building event possible:

🌳 Rae Cook (Earth Phoenix Holistic)

Thank you for guiding us through the entire lifecycle of tree tapping. We learned how to identify right trees, drill safely, and collect the sap. Rae also taught us the patience required to reduce that sap into golden syrup, and showed us how to properly plug the holes to protect our trees from pests and disease.

🧇 Donna and Deanne Schryvers

Thank you for turning our hard work into a delicious celebration! Your fresh waffles and whipped cream were the absolute perfect pairing for our handmade syrup. It was the best way to enjoy the fruits of this time-consuming labor.
Thank you to everyone who came out to learn, connect, and keep this beautiful heritage alive. We cannot wait to see you at our next event!

There’s magic in the trees! 🌳 If you’ve seen blue buckets hanging on 3rd Ave N, you’re looking at the start of some delicious homemade maple syrup. We were thrilled to have 9 community members out to rediscover this traditional skill.
It was a beautiful day of learning and connection.🙏

Shoutouts:

Expertise: Rae at Earth Phoenix Holistic for sharing her wisdom.
Support: The Community Initiative Fund for making our Lost Knowledge Series a reality.

Stay tuned—the boil-down is next! 🥞

Tradition in every stitch. 🧵✨

Huge thanks to Nancy Duns for leading our Ribbon Skirt Making workshop! Everyone did an amazing job on their skirts—and the best part? They all have pockets! 😍

This workshop, part of our Lost Knowledge Series 2.0 funded by the Community Initiatives Fund, was about so much more than sewing. It was a step forward in reconciliation and a beautiful way to keep cultural knowledge alive in our community. 🧡
