Officially opened in 1974, the Naicam Museum is dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of our community, sanctioning hundreds of artifacts that bring the history of Naicam to life.

What began as a Pioneer School in 1923 has become an important part of our local heritage, as in 1982, the Pioneer School was declared a Municipal Heritage Property by the Naicam Town Council.

Our museum preserves our local history shaped by settlement and agriculture. We share the history of the arrival of settlers, the coming of the Canadian Pacific Railway to these lands in 1920, and the establishment of the Village of Naicam in 1921.

Our mission also focuses on preserving cultural knowledge and traditions. Through our year-long programming, we provide opportunities for people to learn traditional and hands-on skills. Our Lost Knowledge Series has explored skills such as soap making, ribbon skirts, bookbinding, Rosehound pottery painting, maple tree tapping, journal making, and moccasin making.

Recently, we have introduced a summer program known as Craft & Connect, which gives youth opportunities to participate in cultural activities, such as our kinusaiga and kumihimo workshops, along with community projects, such as our rock painting.

Our programming will continue on through our new series: the Shared Knowledge series.

Committed to protecting and sharing our heritage, we encourage the community to visit our museum and connect with our local history.
