🇧🇼 OCTOBER 16, 1895: KGOSI BATHOEN I HEADS TO WALES! 🏴

History was unfolding as Bangwaketse Kgosi Bathoen I travelled to Wales after the three great Tswana dikgosi—Bathoen I, Khama III, and Sebele I—had toured England to seek British support for their people’s future.

Accompanied by his brother Kwenaetsile and secretary David Sebonego, Bathoen seized the opportunity to make his own mark. In Abercarn and Newport, South Wales, he joined efforts to rally support against transferring the Bechuanaland Protectorate to Cecil Rhodes’s British South Africa Company.

His journey was more than a diplomatic visit—it was a courageous stand for Tswana sovereignty, self-determination, and the future of Botswana. ✊🏿🇧🇼

✈️ The Woman Who Changed Aviation History!

On May 15, 1930, in the United States, Ellen Church, a registered nurse from Cresco, Iowa, made history by becoming the world’s first airline stewardess.

Flying aboard a Boeing Model 80A from San Francisco to Chicago, she and seven other nurses cared for nervous passengers, served meals, and provided medical assistance at 10,000 feet.

Though her career lasted only six months, Ellen’s pioneering idea transformed air travel forever! 👩‍⚕️✈️
