Established in 1967, Lang Pioneer Village Museum is an outdoor museum that features 30 restored and recreated buildings typical of a small 19th-century village. Costumed interpreters demonstrate the life and trades of a settler in the 1800’s. Many of the buildings were relocated to the Village from within Peterborough County in order to preserve the region’s history. Lang Pioneer Village nestles the shores of the Indian River and boasts a fully-operational Grist Mill, a Weaver Shop which houses one of only a handful authentic Jacquard looms on display in North America and an authentic First Nations encampment. Lang Pioneer Village is the perfect location to retreat from the hustle and bustle of modern living and enjoy the pleasures of an era gone by.

Join us next weekend for an evening of fun and games as we explore the origins of some of our favourite Halloween traditions with Spooky All Hallows' Eve.

On Friday & Saturday, October 23 & 24, from 6 pm to 9 pm each night, the historic village transforms into an array of spooky scenes from ghostly graveyards to witches’ lairs. Featuring fortune-telling, tractor and wagon rides, magic, and more, this all-ages event is sure to get you into the Halloween spirit.

We are just one week away from Spooky All Hallows' Eve! Plan to join us next Friday & Saturday (October 23 & 24) for a magical evening of fun and games as we introduce you to the origins of some of our favourite Halloween traditions. There will be magic shows, fortune telling, wagon rides, spooky stories, tasty treats, and so much more.

The Milburn House will be temporarily closed to visitors over the next few months as we undertake much-needed floor repairs. While this beloved historic building will be taking a short break from public viewing, preservation is at the heart of everything we do as a museum.
Caring for historic structures means addressing wear and aging before they become larger issues. These repairs will help ensure that the Milburn House remains a place where stories can be shared and history can be experienced for many years to come.

Looking for something to do this Friday? We are offering Fall Guided Tours by appointment on Fridays but only until October 30th.

Visitors will enjoy a 45-minute guided tour of some of our heritage homes and businesses, and then are welcome to explore the site at their own pace. Buildings not included on the tour will remain closed, however.
