After a long winter, Rossland Gardens is reopening for the season.
Our opening weekend coincides with one of our most cherished annual traditions: the Lilac Forest Walkabout Experience, taking place May 23-24 from 11am–6:30pm on beautiful Amherst Island.
For a brief moment each spring, the lilac forest comes into bloom. Visitors are invited to wander beneath thousands of flowering lilacs, surrounded by fragrance, birdsong, and the quiet atmosphere of our heritage property.
This year also marks the beginning of a longtime dream for us: the creation of a wildlife pond beside the gallery — a peaceful space intended to support biodiversity while offering visitors a place to sit, reflect, and slow down.
Ross’ workshop and Music Garden will also be open throughout the weekend. Visitors are welcome to explore the workshop, hear music being played, and try Ross’ handmade banjos, ukuleles, and fiddles for themselves.
Fresh lilac bouquets and small-batch lilac jelly are available for preorder through the website in limited quantities.
This is a free, inclusive event and everyone is warmly welcome.
