This week – Paris, here we come.

From October 21–25, Bossa joins CØR Studio and The Floating Art Hotel for Radiant, a selection co-curated by the three of us at CØR Studio in Paris. Six artists and designers come together around one idea: works that don’t wait for light to arrive, but give it off.

This is a first look at some of the works Bossa will present, including pieces by Percival Lafer and Lucas Recchia, bringing two Brazilian voices into conversation across half a century.

Lafer’s leather lounge chairs carried the optimism of Brazilian modernism into industrial production, designed for the body and made to be shared. Recchia works with glass, bronze, and rare Brazilian stones, expanding the material possibilities of contemporary Brazilian design.

The MP-81 Armchair reflects Percival Lafer’s continuous pursuit of comfort, ergonomics, and efficient construction.

Its structure is formed by two fiberglass shells welded into a single rigid body, supported by solid wood legs. The rear legs can be assembled in two different positions, allowing the chair to assume a more upright configuration or a more relaxed angle when paired with the separate headrest. Injected foam completes the upholstery, reinforcing Lafer’s interest in combining comfort with solutions suited to serial production.

Developed within Móveis Lafer, the MP-81 belongs to a broader body of work shaped by technical experimentation and standardized components that could be adapted across different product lines. These solutions also made Lafer’s furniture easier to transport and contributed to the international circulation of his designs.

From October 21 to 25, the MP-81 will be on view in RADIANT at in Paris, during Art Basel Paris. We look forward to welcoming you.

While not all the Forma pieces in Bossa’s collection will be on view at Salon Art + Design, they are part of the history we revisit in A Casa Paulista: Pioneers of São Paulo Modern Interiors.

Among them are a chaise by Carlo Hauner and Martin Eisler, a dressing table, and a round coffee table co-designed by Susi Aczel and Martin Eisler. Iron structures, Brazilian woods, glass and upholstery reveal the company’s attention to proportion, materials and function.

Forma’s stores in São Paulo brought furniture, modern art and objects together into complete environments. What they offered was never simply a single piece, but a proposition about how to live.

Through research, acquisition and restoration, Bossa continues to gather the pieces and references that help retell this history. At Salon, that work takes the form of a living room visitors can enter, sit in and use.

At Forma and Branco & Preto, furniture was presented as part of a complete environment. Forma’s stores in São Paulo integrated furniture, modern art and objects, while Branco & Preto introduced new ways of living through furniture designed for open plans and integrated interiors.

At Galeria Artesanal, Georgia Hauner made this approach explicit, composing complete settings in which furniture, art, light and textile were held together as a single image. The room, not the object, was the unit of meaning.

Within these environments, cloth was chosen with the same intention as the frame it covered, and held to the same standard. Yet most of those fabrics did not survive. The authorship of that vanished layer was, disproportionately, female. At Branco & Preto, Irene Ruchti designed textiles that left almost no trace in the archive.

Historical photographs help Bossa weave these histories back together. The striped upholstery of the Branco & Preto MF5 armchairs presented here was reconstructed in our atelier from period photography of the original chair.

This return to the documentary record extends beyond fabrics. Today, Georgia Hauner’s scenography guides Bossa’s presentation at Salon Art + Design. A Casa Paulista is conceived as a living room, one visitors can enter, sit in and use.

Between 1952 and 1956, three addresses within a few blocks of one another in downtown São Paulo taught a city how to inhabit modernity.

When Estúdio Branco & Preto opened in late 1952, its six founding architects sought to create the furniture they could not find for the houses they were designing. Nearby, in 1953, Martin Eisler joined Carlo Hauner’s Móveis Artesanal, where Forma began to take shape. That same year, Joaquim Tenreiro brought his own vision to Rua Marquês de Itu, before moving to the newly built Conjunto Nacional in 1956.

Each proposed a new way of living. Their showrooms occupied the ground floors of the city’s modern buildings, bringing furniture into fully composed domestic environments. What you bought was never simply a piece, but a proposition about how to live.

Since its founding in 2017, Bossa has been weaving the parts of this history back together, gathering piece by piece, reference by reference. We’re proud to continue this work in New York with A Casa Paulista at Salon Art + Design.

Bossa presents an expanded chapter of A Casa Paulista at Salon Art + Design 2026, continuing the exhibition first held at our São Paulo flagship.

With Branco & Preto, Forma and Joaquim Tenreiro at its center, the presentation revisits the interiors that shaped modern living in 1950s São Paulo, where furniture, art, light and textile were held together as a single image.

It also asks who counts as a pioneer, bringing attention to the women who composed these rooms and designed their fabrics, a layer of this history that has largely disappeared.

The iconic Brasiliana is a series composed of a sofa and armchair designed by Jorge Zalszupin (1922-2020) in 1965 and produced by his company, L'Atelier. These rare pieces have molded laminate wood structures and were part of the first lines of furniture from L'Atelier.

Brasiliana armchairs and sofa use molded laminate to create a light structure with elegantly comfortable cushions. The pieces have rectangular plywood boards with curved ends, assembled by small metal parts and the well-known brass cross-head screws characteristic of L'Atelier. Much more than rationalizing design, Zalszupin focused mainly on acquiring and using new technologies and materials to make series production viable.

​​Oswaldo Mellone, an architect and designer who worked as Zalszupin's assistant, said the Brasiliana series is inspired by the architecture of the palaces and buildings designed by Oscar Niemeyer for the country's new capital, Brasília. The armchair legs are very similar to the columns of the Federal Supreme Court, built between 1958 and 1960.

These Brasiliana armchairs are in very good vintage condition and have the original upholstery. Wood restoration and upholstery service by our Workshop are included as a courtesy.
