BXLX Landscape Architecture is a small and dynamic design studio for contemporanean, bustling landscape architecture. With one foot in Brussels (BXL) and the other in Lisbon (LX), we design and research for both city as countryside. ed landscape architecture at the Hogeschool Gent, today KASK, School of Arts of University College Ghent, where he was guest lecturer for the design studios and design theory in landscape architecture and for the post-graduation degree in landscape development. He developed his design and construction skills in Lisbon’s based office PROAP, led by João Ferreira Nunes, working on the development of the Master Plan for the 7,7km Scheldt Quays in Antwerp (BE), some large scale projects (New Governance Policy for Lisbon, Sustainable Development of Lisbon’s Airport,…), various competitions (Market Place of Alcácer do Sal (PT); Museum Park Campameanto Benitez in Malaga (ES); Roeselare Train Station (BE)), some smaller landscape architecture projects and terrain studies. Back in Belgium he worked at Bureau Bas Smets in Brussels as project leader for the 422ha winning competition entry for the Open Call OO1612 for the Laaglandpark in Merksem (Antwerp | Belgium), Design project leader for ao. Tweewaters (Leuven), Bijloke Roofgardens (Ghent), Ingelmunster Village Reconversion, Station Square of Roeselare and for Villa Ukkel. He was responsible for the construction management for the reconversion of Ingelmunster and Villa Voka + Leiedal (in collaboration with ARA, Atelier Ruimtelijk Advies), Gent Bijloke, Villa Ukkel, Lommel Kapittelhof (in collaboration with Bureau Bouwtechniek) and Genk LO2020. Today he leads and coordinates the landscape department at the Belgium based architecture company BURO II & ARCHI+I, leading a team of 6 landscape architects within a multi-disciplinary group of 130 architects, urban planners, interior designers and engineers.

And now for something different - working on the landscape integration of large scale infrastructure in Ghent. K. Lynch will be a great source of inspiration for defining the design approach.

"Road­watching is a delight, and the highway is­ - or at least might be - a work of art. The view from the road can be a dramatic play of space and motion, of light and texture, all on a new scale. These long sequences could make our vast metropolitan areas comprehensible: the driver would see how the city is organized, what it symbolizes, how people use it, how it relates to him. To our way of thinking, the highway is the great neglected opportunity in city design. "
