Let’s meet one of the honorable judges for our upcoming national photography exhibition and competition, বাংলা দর্পণ : সিজন ৭ | Bangla Dorpon : Season 7.
• Abdul Momin
Abdul Momin is a Bangladeshi photographer whose journey began in Baghopara, a small village in northern Bangladesh, meaning “Village of Tigers.” Raised in a humble environment below the poverty line, he overcame numerous challenges through determination and passion.
He started photography during his graduate studies using a second-hand mobile phone with a 5MP camera, capturing flowers, insects, and nature. Encouraged by positive feedback on social media, he gradually developed his skills through online learning and innovation, even creating his own external macro lens.
His early success in mobile photography competitions enabled him to purchase his first DSLR camera, a Nikon D5200, marking a turning point in his career. Choosing passion over uncertainty, he pursued photography as a full-time profession despite many initial struggles.
Throughout his journey, he faced several setbacks, including losing his equipment twice, but he remained resilient. His work has now been published in more than 300 international newspapers and magazines and has earned him over 100 national and international awards.
He has received recognition from prestigious competitions worldwide, including the Andrei Stenin Press Photo Contest (Russia), UNESCO Skills in Action International Photo Competition, HIPA (Dubai), Fujifilm Photography Award (UK), Nikon Photography Contest (Japan), and the Sienna International Drone Photography Award (Italy), along with several renowned competitions across France, Spain, China, South Korea, and beyond.
For him, photography is more than just capturing moments, it is about making images feel alive. His work reflects deep emotion, aiming to connect viewers with both joy and sorrow in a meaningful and lasting way. Photography has transformed his life, allowing him to see the world more deeply and share that vision with others.
