♠Burak — A Journey Beyond the Limits

Burak is more than a mythical creature. It is a symbol of the human desire to go beyond limits.
Its wings represent freedom—not simply the freedom to fly, but the freedom to rise above fear, doubt, and the boundaries of the physical world.
We are born with our feet on the earth, but something inside us always looks toward the sky. We want to know what lies beyond what we can see and understand.
Burak represents that journey.
It reminds us that the greatest journey is not always from one place to another. Sometimes, it is a journey from the self to something greater than the self.
Perhaps the deepest meaning of Burak is simple:
We do not grow by staying within our limits.
We grow when we dare to cross them.
And sometimes, the sky we are searching for is not above us—
it is within us.

মানুষ যত দূর বাইরে খোঁজে, সত্য তত গভীরে নীরব হয়ে বসে থাকে।
দরবেশের পথ কোনো দূরদেশের পথ নয়—এ পথ নিজের অন্তরের দিকে ফিরে যাওয়ার পথ।
যে নিজেকে হারাতে শিখেছে, সে-ই একদিন নিজেকে খুঁজে পায়।
যে অহংকারের দরজা বন্ধ করেছে, তার হৃদয়েই খুলে যায় প্রেমের দরজা।
আমি মসজিদে, মন্দিরে, পাহাড়ে কিংবা মরুভূমিতে তাঁকে খুঁজি না;
আমি খুঁজি সেই নিঃশব্দ মুহূর্তে—
যখন হৃদয় আর কোনো দাবি রাখে না,
চোখ আর কোনো প্রাপ্তির অপেক্ষায় থাকে না,
আর আত্মা ধীরে ধীরে বলে ওঠে—
“আমি নই, তুমিই আছো।”
এই বিলীন হওয়ার নামই হয়তো প্রেম।
এই প্রেমের গভীরতম বিন্দুতেই মানুষ বুঝতে পারে—
স্রষ্টাকে খুঁজতে সে যত পথ হেঁটেছে,
স্রষ্টা ততক্ষণ তার নিজের হৃদয়ের মধ্যেই অপেক্ষা করছিলেন।

Professor Nazrul Islam has dedicated his entire life to working on the art, culture, language, and literature of the Indigenous communities of the plains. His contribution to the movement for protecting Indigenous rights is truly remarkable and deserves great respect.
As a small gesture of appreciation for his lifelong work, I attempted to recreate Zainul Abedin’s famous Santal Couple painting, originally created in Dumka, on an 8 ft × 6 ft canvas. Though painted with humble skills, it was done with deep admiration and respect for Sir’s contributions.
The painting is now part of Professor Nazrul Islam’s personal collection. I sincerely wish him continued success and strength in his ongoing efforts to protect and promote the rights, heritage, and dignity of Indigenous peoples in the years ahead.
