MARS is on project hiatus after five years of exhibitions, residencies, projects and workshops et al. MARS is the founding gallery space on theGRID: hybrid arts collective in Toowoomba, south-east Queensland, Australia. Originally founded to address the lack of exhibition opportunity for contemporary artists in Toowoomba back in 2009, MARS started as seasonal exhibitions in Metro Cafe + Events. A

fter two years of exhibitions and taking on resident artists, MARS founder Alison Mooney joined with dance teacher Kirsty Lee to found theGRID: hybrid arts collective - an exciting addition to Toowoomba's cultural scene. MARS has worked in partnerships with:

STUDIO:
We ducked down the hill to check out the new body of work Gary Winfield is working on for his Brisbane outing come May.

This piece continues on from his previous series while new smaller pieces incorporate new flat plane techniques and minimalist backgrounds - forcing the mind into his intricate paint puddling.

Show opens May 12 at Redsea Gallery Brisbane.

Congrats to local Jared Fountain on his solo show featuring at 19 Karen Contemporary Artspace this month ... If you're in the area, check it out. His works mix the romance of traditional oil painters of old with the filthy edge of grainy street art feels.
