Do you own a vintage U.S. Divers / Aqua-Lung twin-hose regulator?

We’d love you to add it to our new worldwide database. The idea is simple record as many surviving regulators as possible so that, over the coming years, we can start to see how many are still out there, where they are, serial number ranges and different models and variations.

This vintage Sea-Tite underwater camera housing was made in Sydney, Australia, most likely during the late 1970s or 1980s.
Sea-Tite, founded by Barry Davies, built specialist underwater housings for everything from Nikon and medium-format cameras through to full-size professional television cameras.

Now this is an unusual U.S. Divers Mistral!

This original U.S. Divers Mistral twin hose regulator has had heavy stainless steel covers fitted to both sides at some point in its life.
Why? I honestly have no idea but that’s what makes vintage scuba gear so interesting. Divers were great at modifying and experimenting with their equipment, and every now and then something truly unique turns up.

Did you know this camera changed underwater photography forever?
This is the Calypso Underwater Camera, developed around 1960 for Jacques Cousteau by Belgian engineer Jean de Wouters. It was the world's first truly practical waterproof 35mm camera that didn't need a bulky external housing.
Its innovative design proved so successful that Nikon later acquired the rights, and it evolved into the legendary Nikonos series, used by underwater photographers for decades.
This particular camera still retains its original SOM Berthiot 35mm lens and even the original wrist strap. It's a remarkable piece of diving history and one of the most significant underwater cameras ever made.

One of the true legends of vintage scuba the La Spirotechnique Mistral. Introduced in 1955, the Mistral replaced the famous CG45 and helped bring recreational scuba diving to the world. Its simple, rugged single-stage twin-hose design became the regulator most closely associated with Jacques Cousteau and the voyages of the Calypso.
This beautiful example still carries its original Cousteau–Gagnan badge and 27 Rue Trébois, Levallois address plate, making it a wonderful piece of French diving history. www.vintagescubagear.com.au

What a fantastic few days aboard the MV Rodney Fox celebrating the legacy of Jacques Cousteau!

One of the highlights was seeing guests dive my original 1960s U.S. Divers DA Aqua-Master twin-hose regulator while coming face-to-face with great white sharks in the cage. Seeing a piece of scuba history back in the ocean where it belongs was something truly special.

A rare piece of Aussie diving history back to life. (almost)

Mark's just refitted the hoses on a late 1950s regulator built for Dr Scoresby Shepherd by the University of Adelaide.

It was dived by him throughout 1960.

Cleaned, but kept completely original. The material-covered hoses are period-correct, just like early gas masks and Russian dive gear of the time.

A true one-of-a-kind.
