🧊 🔍 Next week at Beaker Street, find Shifting Antarctica exhibited in the Hobartica Precinct!

🌀 Produced by Constance ARI, this pilot collaboration with ACEAS (Australian Centre for Excellence in Antarctic Science) explores what can be created when the world's leading Antarctic scientists connect with some of our most engaged contemporary artists. In this program artists were asked to create original, science-informed artworks that could negotiate the spaces between high end research, climate anxiety and the impacts of a rapidly changing political, cultural and natural environment.

Shifting Antarctica presents the outcomes from this collaboration, exhibited at Beaker Street Festival’s Hobartica Precinct, in the Kent & Kent Antiques building, 3 Morrison st, Nipaluna / Hobart.

💥 LAUNCH has launched!!

On Thursday last week YARC was buzzing with energy as over 130 people came together to celebrate the opening of LAUNCH 2026. We’d like to extend our warm thanks to everyone who attended, and a huge congratulations to our 8 young artists and their mentors!! It's been fantastic seeing the artists' collaborative works come together through this playful, multidisciplinary exhibition✨

Thursday to Sunday, 3-6pm, at YARC in City Hall, 1 Market Place, Nipaluna / Hobart.

Pop in, grab a catalogue, and go on a journey to engage with the vast range of artworks that are currently inhabiting the active youth centre.

LAUNCH is an exciting and unpredictable exhibition that pairs established artists with young people to create bold and collaborative works that celebrate experimentation, mentorship, and creative exchange. This opportunity is a chance for young people to develop their artistic voices while building confidence and gaining valuable insight into the arts industry. Working across any medium of the young person’s choosing, the pairs’ projects range from songwriting to sculpture, drawing to mural painting, and anything in between.

🚀 1 WEEK UNTIL WE OPEN LAUNCH 🚀

Join us to celebrate the opening of LAUNCH 2026 on 11 June, 4-6pm at YARC, nipaluna / Hobart.

If you can’t make it then, the exhibition will be open to visitors 12-14 + 18-21 June, 3-6pm.

LAUNCH, a partnership between Constance ARI and Youth Arts & Recreation Centre, brings eight young people together with local artist mentors to make new work for a public exhibition. Right now, each pair is deep in the making process, with artworks continuing to unfold in surprising directions right up until the exhibition. Visitors to LAUNCH will be offered a rare glimpse into the creative process, revealing what happens when collaboration, curiosity and imagination lead the way.

🧨 💥 LAUNCH 2026 is underway!

Youth Arts & Recreation Centre is partnering with Constance ARI again to deliver the second iteration of this exciting and unpredictable project.

LAUNCH pairs young people with local established artists to create bold, collaborative works across a range of mediums which celebrate experimentation, mentorship, and creative exchange. This opportunity aims to equip the youth participants with ways to build confidence, offer their experience of the world to a wider audience, and to guide an arts project through to exhibition stage.

The LAUNCH 2026 exhibition will be open to the public at YARC in nipaluna / Hobart, launching on June 11.

Jewelled Nights || School of Physical Culture

Curated by Jacqueline Dortmans, and presented by The Unconformity.

100 years after the release of Marie Bjelke Petersen’s Jewelled Nights — Lutruwita / Tasmania’s first major silent film — this exhibition is a love letter to the women who made it happen.

We also invite you to sweat and subvert through the School of Physical Culture. Group fitness becomes a choreopolitical playground, in a participatory performance, unravel fixed identities and histories and re-perform with rupturing repetition. Explore autonomy, fluidity, and the politics of posture – come flex with us. More sass than sweat. All bodies welcome.
