Congratulations to stalwart Brisbane City Council employee, Glenn Berghofer, who retired from Council on Friday, 1 May 2026 after 40 years of incredible service and dedication to moving the people of Brisbane.

Aside from being a popular and valued Council employee, Glenn has also been a valued supporter of our organisation for many years. Between 2015 and 2016, Glenn successfully lobbied Council to securely store up to 5 buses inside Council’s Sherwood bus depot, which he managed at the time.

This arrangement was a significant boon which lasted for 5 years and laid the foundation for the development of the Brisbane Transport Museum!

Thank you Glenn and we are excited that you will now have more time to spend at the Museum with us!

QOCS PARTNERS WITH INDRA TO REFURBISH SECOND HERITAGE BCC BUS

Excited to announce that we have partnered with the team at Indra to restore former Brisbane City Council 1989 Volvo B10M ‘butter box’ bus number 185 to its former glory: https://www.qocs.org.au/our-buses/bus-185/

This is the second project funded under the partnership forged with Indra last year and follows the success of bus 958’s restoration unveiled in August 2025: https://www.qocs.org.au/cityxpress-brought-back-to-life/

Indra, a world leading supplier of proprietary solutions in transport, is a key contractor to Brisbane City Council for their flagship Brisbane Metro project.

The work is again being undertaken by the team at Royans Coachworks at Acacia Ridge in Brisbane.

Watch this space for further updates on 185’s journey!

It’s been a big week of media engagement at the Museum with 7NEWS Brisbane visiting earlier this week to recognise one of Brisbane City Council’s longest serving bus drivers, Dennis Sarron who retired this week after 58 incredible years of service!

On Thursday we welcomed our friends from 612 ABC Brisbane afternoons with Kat Feeney to declare Brisbane’s Best Bus Stop!

Former Brisbane City Council Volvo B59 bus 827 was transformed into a live radio broadcast studio as we travelled to the top two stops at Bardon and Priestdale.

A great afternoon talking all things buses!

This SUNDAY May 3, 10am - 2pm - our May open day! (Yay)!! 😁 *** Please note the new day and times ⏲️***

Can you believe its autumn 🍂 already?!

As we move into our cooler months, we have decided to have our open days on Sundays and at a slightly earlier start & finish time.

We would love for you to come and visit us!

If you've never been yet because Saturdays are too busy for you, you're in luck with our new Sunday open days throughout the cooler months 😎

Heck, even if you HAVE seen us before once - or many times over, we'd absolutely love for you to come see us again.... we're pretty good like that 😉😆

Things to do at our museum;

✅️ View our museum walls that are rich with history and wonderful photos of Queensland's bus history

✅️ Check out our extensive collection of bus images - buses that ran in Queensland, were built in Queensland, or both!

✅️ Enjoy a step back in time, with a joyride (or two...or three...) on one of our restored operating heritage buses - like "the one we went to school on" in the 80s 👌😎

✅️ Purchase a souvenir of your visit in our shop - we have books, fridge magnets and more.

✅️ Membership applications - we are always welcoming of new members & volunteers 😉😉😉
