Zonta International Convention 2026 in Vancouver, Canada

A busy few days at the Zonta Convention:

* Saturday morning - a walk along the Vancouver Seawall supporting and highlighting Zonta Says Now and the concerns Zonta has about our climate. Photo shows members of the Zonta Club of Adelaide in teal the colour of Zonta Says Now

* Saturday after the walk - were Networking sessions with choices of workshops. This was followed by Breakthrough sessions with more workshops.

* After the meetings - I was fortunate that I was part of a First Timers Meet and Greet. One of our activities was to meet someone from each continent. Being Australian was a real plus as I was one of the few Aussies, many others had been to the Brisbane Convention. So met lots of Zontians from everywhere.

* Evening - Dinners were organised at Grouse Mountain and the Vancouver Aquarium for those interested.

A special thank you from the Zonta Club of Mt Barker to Baker's Delight Mt Barker for their generous donation of bread rolls for the Mt Barker Mount Barker District Council Fiery Friday evening where Zonta sold cups of soup.
The donation and money raised during the evening will fund many programs supporting women and girls in our local area.

Last Friday, the Mt Barker Council’s Fiery Friday event was postponed due to inclement weather. The new date is Friday 3rd July and the Zonta Club of Mt Barker will be serving home made soup ( Pumpkin, Pea and Ham and Minestrone )with a bread roll to keep you warm.
Looking forward to seeing you at this amazing event.

Proceeds will support our projects such as Birthing Kits, Breast Care Cushions, Baby Boxes for mums in need at the Mt Barker Hospital, the Healthy Newborn Ultrasound Project, supporting the food workshops for the MB Vocational College and Centacare to name a few.

Social event for Zonta Club of Mt Barker

Thank you to Jane and Donna who organised a morning tea at the Cedars at Hahndorf for our Zonta Club of Mt Barker members.

The Cedars is the stunning historic estate of Australian landscape painter Sir Hans Heysen (1877 - 1968) and his family including hisvdaughter Nora Heysen's (1911 - 2003) original art studios and the stunning Heysen home with over 200 original artworks. Walk the beautiful original Artist's Garden and take the Artist's Walk over the wider 160 acre property. Soak up the atmosphere at the Cedars' Kitchen cafe overlooking the garden while enjoying homemade sweet and savoury treats and Heysen tea and coffee. Guided tours 11am and 2pm daily.

Congratulations to the new Zonta Club of Mt Barker Board for 2026 - 2028. Wishing them every success in the future.
Huge thanks to the outgoing Board for their efforts over the last 2 years, led by Maree Prendergast.

It was also a pleasure to add another new member to our club - Janette Size. A very warm welcome to Janette - another shoe filled.

Vale Fay Leditschke

Today one of our Mt Barker Zontians said farewell to her dear friend Fay at her Memorial Service. She was a Zontian - President, Vice President and Treasurer of the Zonta Club of Adelaide Flinders. Fay passed away in March. Our thoughts are with the Zonta Club of Adelaide Flinders.

Mylor Dawn Service

This morning Sue from the Zonta Club of Mt Barker laid a wreath at the Mylor Dawn Service on behalf of our club. The wreath was made by Sue and Di Mc from our club, so special thanks to them. Another member of our club, Merrilyn was also involved in the organisation and running of the Dawn Service too.
