This week I participated in the annual Mural Festival held in Rochester. It was an honour to be selected and I had a wonderful week working alongside some incredible artists and beautiful committee members and volunteers.

My mural “Guardians of the Land” Captures a fleeting moment that reflects the quiet beauty of daily life on the land. Capturing the brief but striking appearance of flowering canola. Viewers are invited to engage with the often-overlooked scenes integral to local life.

I am honoured to be chosen as one of the eight artists selected for this years Mural Festival in Rochester. Last night my ´mini mural’ was unveiled at the meet the artists dinner, where I was interviewed on stage at the Rochester Shire Hall. This morning I began working on my mural, a 5x2 meter painting titled ‘guardians of the land’. Very excited for the week ahead !!

This week I had the privilege of speaking to the visual arts students at Catherine Macauley College Bendigo.

I was invited to speak to the students about my artistic practice and discus the career pathways I have taken. Touching on topics such as my tertiary education and technical aspects present within the process of developing my paintings.

It was a wonderful experience working with young creative minds.

My solo show ‘COMPANION’ officially opens in ONE WEEK !!! Opening night Wednesday 3rd 6-8:30 pm in Fitzroy ✨✨

“Grace’s paintings look into the relationship between human and animal life. Enticing audiences to self project and contemplate the nature of their relationship with animals, particularly domesticated animals and ornamental depictions of animals. Depicted are familiar animals, however they are not simply depicted in a traditional way. The artist offers a moment of daily life captured in a visually intruiging way engaging with the audience. Connection between the audience and subject matter if further encouraged through aspects of the paintings including gaze, visual familiarity, relatability and an element of humour. The materiality of the work, the choice of wood instead of traditional canvas, is carefully considered to evoke a contemplation of nature in relation to the subject matter and to contribute to the story created. The combination of medium, subject and theoretical premise delicately produces paintings that touch on the heart of humanity. “
