CAR YARD UPDATE 📣

After advertising to lease the car yard in Geurie, we are delighted to see long-term plans, dreams, and hard work strive toward the next stage.

We’re transforming a space that has long been a local car yard to add more village shops.

This enhances the amenity of living in and around Geurie and building on the existing commerce that attracts locals and visitors alike.

Last night, we had the pleasure of introducing two new faces to Sunny at the Geurie Pit Stop Garage & petrol station, as well as Mikayla at the Mitchell Inn.

We also bumped into neighbours and caught up with locals walking past.

We all shared the same feeling: Geurie is growing and becoming busier!

We look forward to sharing more details on the next chapter for the car yard once Council processes are finalised.

Exciting times ahead.

An enormous thanks to Mr. Noel Geer, who has sold cars at the yard for many years.

Working with him through this process has been a true blessing, and we feel lucky to have crossed paths.

An artists impression of stage one.

Recently we spotted these great public footpath beauties in downtown Temora.

It has been a while since we have been out on the road, and great to see another rural/regional spot celebrating beauty & offering up inspiration…

Reusing items as pots, an old sheep feeder & frost/drought tolerant plants.

Clever!

Proudly watching our main street come alive! ✨

If you haven’t stopped by the Buckenbah Collective (55 Buckenbah St, Geurie) lately, you’re missing out on one of the beating hearts of Geurie.

What started as a vision to revitalize our village hub has blossomed into a vibrant gathering space where community, local art, and great food collide.

From catching up over a coffee and breakfast at The Lemon Tree Cafe to browsing the incredible works at the Jacinta Haycock Artist Studio & Gallery, this space proves just how much energy, talent, and passion we have right here in our district. ☕🎨

Beyond what you see today, the Collective represents something even bigger: a commitment to backing local enterprise, creating regional jobs, and giving people a warm, welcoming place to connect… whether you’re a local regular or just passing through on the highway.

Here’s to creating more spaces that bring our community together and back local vision. Make sure you drop in, say hello, and show your support! 👇

Personal post from Claire.

I remember being a junior solicitor in Goondiwindi. I’d be working with the senior partner, Norm and see incredible people, clients, their businesses. But what I also saw was the larger farm businesses giving back.

These businesses built the town halls, funded the nursing home. Paid the money to get important community things done.

They invested in old buildings needing TLC. These people grew up in that region and were proud of their history.

They looked around and wondered who was going to fix the broken picnic table, repair the roof on the local pool / public toilets.

There is an incredible strength in local people, just getting stuff done.

Yes, local council & government have a role to play - but it is a slow process. It is filled with politics, agendas and so, so many people putting their hand out - expecting the world, and not doing a darn thing to make the world a better place.

So, we saw folks walkin’ the walk. Not just talkin’ the talk.

After 16 years of owning farmland in Geurie, (we were very fortunate to buy land in late 2011), it seemed important to do something locally. Yes we have worked our butts off, and have a team of incredible people growing food ❤️…

The Central West of NSW (and many other parts of agricultural Australia) have seen farmland values skyrocket in a way not seen before in Australia.

It feels right to borrow against that increase (the windfall of “time in the market”), and find a way to pay the additional interest cost of additional debt - this enabled us to restore a beautiful old building in Geurie. It now has a vibrant cafe & art gallery.

And these businesses are filled with people with the same kind of hard work ethic & quintessential Australian values we all love and admire. We know they will succeed & thrive in Geurie.

Geurie is a beautiful spot to call home.

It has been neglected by policy makers, government & investment for many, many years though.

But, that’s changing now.

Get in touch if you are keen to join the groundswell of support of local people (young & old) and businesses in the village & agricultural district.

Many hands. Lots to do.

The power of the people is an amazing thing to watch.
