What does it look like to exist precariously despite having support structures? Nqa+Antoinette’s Mantle II considers assemblages of fragility and strength in the oscillations between support and insecurity in their lives.

Antoinette’s ceramic works sit in various stages of resolve, speaking to themes of endurance and vulnerability. She is known for works that push clay to its limits, resulting in tearing and buckling. Nqa makes life-casts, miniatures, noise objects and employs literal 'supports' such as scaffolding in her installation practice. In Mantle II, Antoinette’s ceramic works inhabit Nqa's seemingly fragile and unstable environments. Their compositions are staged in various phases of development/demise to capture the transitory nature of existence while intertwining their complementary disciplines.

We’re open Wednesday to Sunday 11am to 5pm. See it before it goes!

Margaret Ackland
'Tipping Point' is continues until the September 2, 2023.

"Without question, there is something miraculous in Ackland’s technical ability of rendering watercolour into the reflective materiality of the metal and glass subjects. Once a mark is made, it is difficult to erase or remove. Negotiating this character, the fragility of the paper, and pigment suspended in the movement of water demands a degree of patience that discerns a sensitivity within the unsteady compositions. Such precision is irrevocably enchanting" - Claire de Carteret
