Time to start the watercolour section of my course. I seem to have “watercolour anxiety” 😬 but watched the tutorial carefully and painted this little mouse. I really want to be able to stop overthinking the process and relax. Sarah Stokes Artist and Laura Jayne Smith tutorial.

This is from a reference photo by John Cameron. A flamingo in charcoal with charcoal background. I hadn’t intended to do the background but decided it made the flamingo stand out more.

When I first looked at entering a piece of art into the Mount Roland Art Prize, I had no idea what I could do. I had never painted to a theme before. “Fragility”
And then one day I saw a drop of water clinging to the tip of my alocascia plant and it came together. The fragility of life on our planet, the dependence on water by every living being. A very different painting for me.
( And I am so glad someone else loves it as well)

I am spending some time this year exploring and learning from Sarah Stokes, a watercolour and charcoal artist from the UK.
This is some of the work I have done so far. I am finding that I am really comfortable with charcoal art.

I had a lovely time at the Truly Tasmanian Craft Exhibition and Sale at Latrobe this last long weekend. Such an amazing array of local talent and skill.
Thank you to all who stopped at my stall for a look, for a chat, and for buying. Thank you so much for the encouragement that this has brought. As well as selling many individually painted cards, some of my paintings also sold. Many thanks to all. These are some that sold. (Others I don’t seem to have a photo of )

I am truly amazed at the talent and craftsmanship of so many people who have stalls at the craft fair this long weekend!

It’s been a while since I posted anything on my art page. It has been a Season of change- packing, moving, settling in. Even before that, it was the rollercoaster of trying to sell the farm and the unsettled space that was.
My work space now is more limited but I have finally been back at work.
The Truly Tasmanian Craft Fair is fast approaching and I have replenished my supplies for my stall.
Look forward to seeing you there- Nov 1, 2 ,&3 at Latrobe, Tasmania.
Here are some samples of my cards that will be available.
